Special Districts

The formation of various special districts including infrastructure districts, metropolitan districts, business improvement districts, local improvement districts, neighborhood improvement districts and general improvement districts is a financing tool whereby private sector developers and local governments can seek reimbursement for project costs or augment the provision of public services. Special districts can help finance a wide variety of expenditures including the construction of new roads, other site improvements, signage/beautification, business marketing and supplemental public safety.
